Caravan parks win at Tourism Awards

Caravan parks shone at the Australian Tourism Awards on April 10, with several well-known camping accommodation providers recognised for their excellence.

Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort (pictured) showed it hasn’t lost its touch by taking the top award in the Tourist and Caravan Parks category for the second year in a row.

The Bellarine Peninsula’s BIG4 Beacon Resort (VIC) and BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park (NSW) took out the silver and bronze awards respectively.

Rawnsley Park Station (SA) took home the silver award for Unique Accommodation. Not only does the station have great camping facilities but also fantastic Eco Villas.

Ibis Styles Katherine (NT) won gold in the Standard Accommodation category, a great choice to stay in the territory with caravan sites available for road trippers.

Other winners included Port Arthur Historic Site (TAS) for Major Tourist Attraction, Woodford Folk Festival for Major Festivals and Events, and Pennicott Wilderness Journeys (TAS) the Qantas Award for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism.

“We as an industry are very pleased to see great caravanning and camping accommodation providers recognised in their category and beyond,” said Stuart Lamont, CEO of Caravan Industry Association of Australia.

“More and more we are seeing parks innovate to create memorable experiences for the millions of Australian’s who go caravanning and camping each year.”
