The year’s most complained about ad

Holden Australia’s commercial about “bloody caravanners” has been revealed as the most complained about ad in 2015.

The 30-second ad in which a young boy mimics his father saying “bloody caravanners” received a total of 161 complaints. In runner up position was adultery site Ashley Madison, whose “looking for someone other than my wife” ad received 138 complaints.

Other controversial ads to make it onto the list were a toilet paper ad where people say “oh sheet”, a wife licking chip flavouring off her husband’s lips, and one in which a woman flicks her belt at a snake.

The Ad Standards Bureau says they received a total of 4,000 complaints for some 450 commercials this year, down on last year’s 5,600.

Holden has since edited their ad to remove the offending dialogue. See the original version below.
