Welcome to Country is a new app which reveals the stories of indigenous people as you pass through their traditional lands.
Developer and Ngarluma (WA) man Tyson Mowarin says the app was created to help travellers understand the history and traditions of the Aboriginal people.
As you cross the border into tribal territory, the app sends users a helpful alert.
“I think it’s important to acknowledge people, and once you acknowledge them that’s where mutual respect comes from,” he says.
“A lot of indigenous groups are looking to share their stories, and the app is a simple way to do this. It’s about helping people recognise different cultures,” says Tyson.
The Welcome to Country app is available for free on iPhone with plans to launch an android version.
